Name: Mrs. Mary Ann Jackson Wortham
Experience: 20+ Years
Certification: T-5
Teach: English Language Arts
Hobbies: sewing, reading, arts and crafts
Favorite quote: “Everything heard should not be repeated and everything thought should not be spoken.”
Parents please check with your student(s) each day and question him or her about what was learned that day. Have him or her to show you the assignments that were completed in class. This will help your child(ren) to review each day and not have to “cram” all the information in his or her memory just for a test. Homework is being given and many are not completing the assignments. The homework is a continuation of what was done in class that day.
Class Supplies:
1 or 1 ½ inch notebook (a three- ring binder) The purpose for the notebook is to develop a portfolio of what will be studied during the school year.
Loose-leaf notebook paper (I ask that students do not use spiral-bound paper because the small particles of paper accumulate on the floor which clogs the vacuum cleaner.)
Colored Pencils (The students are required to proofread, revise and edit their writing, bell ringers and complete their thinking map frame of reference in specific colors. Using colored pens or pencils will help in remembering what needs to corrected while revising their writing and that they understand certain the information given in their thinking maps and frames of reference.
